NICOSIA, Cyprus— Chevron and Cyprus’ Ministry of Energy, Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Cyprus have affirmed their joint commitment to a viable development of the deepwater Aphrodite gas discovery offshore southern Cyprus.
The field lies in the Republic’s Exclusive Economic Zone.
Clay Neff, president of Chevron Middle East, Africa, South America Exploration and Production Co., updated Energy Minister Natasa Pilides and President of the House of Representatives Annita Demetriou on the planned schedule.
This includes drilling of a new well in the next few months, within the overall framework of the field’s approved development and production plan.
Chevron also is working to optimize the development concept, through potential synergies with other facilities in the region. The finalized development concept should be presented to the energy minister for approval by the end of the year.
