HOUSTON — Trident Energy do Brasil has extended Helix Energy Solutions Group’s current decommissioning contract by a further 12 months.

Negotiated rates are in line with the current well intervention market, Trident said.

The contract, which started in late 2022 in the Campos Basin offshore Brazil, involves use of the Siem Helix 1 riser-based well intervention vessel and a 10K intervention riser system.

Helix is providing P&A well services through its Subsea Services Alliance partner SLB, and also project management and engineering services.

The company and Siem Offshore have signed six-year charter extensions for both the vessels involved, with the Siem Helix 1 term now extending through December 2030 and the Siem Helix 2 term through December 2031.

Both can undertake wide-ranging subsea tasks including production enhancement, well decommissioning, subsea installation, offshore crane and ROV operations, offshore construction and emergency response.

In addition, the contracted for the ship-shaped FPU Helix Producer I has been extended to June 1. The vessel has been stationed since 2016 at Green Canyon Block 237 in the Gulf of Mexico producing oil and gas through the Phoenix Field subsea infrastructure. It is designed to produce hydrocarbons for export to shore via a pipeline or offloaded to a tanker.
