Galp CEO resigns, citing family reasons

Galp says it will announce its new executive leadership in the coming days.

Galp announced Jan. 7 that Filipe Silva has resigned as CEO and vice president of the board of directors for family reasons.

Galp plans to announce the new executive leadership soon.

“I would like to emphasize the contribution Filipe has made to the company over the last 12 years, a period during which his dedication was important for Galp's growth. Galp's Executive Committee remains in the hands of a highly qualified team, that will ensure the execution and implementation of the company's strategy,” said Paula Amorim, chairman of the board.

The company, headquarted in Alcântara, Lisbon, has assets in Namibia, São Tomé and Príncipe, and in the presalt Santos Basin offshore Brazil.

The company recently said it expects a new 3D seismic acquisition campaign to start shortly over its deepwater block PEL83 in the Orange Basin offshore Namibia. 

Galp also recently announced that the Mopane-2A well (well #4) in PEL83 offshore Namibia encountered gas-condensate in the AVO-3 reservoir with a thin net pay in the reservoir sweet spot. In addition, the well discovered a light oil in a smaller reservoir, AVO-4.
