Interocean has obtained approval from both ABS and DNV for its drones to make ultrasonic thickness measurements on mobile offshore units.

Interocean Marine Services has obtained approval from both ABS and DNV for its drones to make ultrasonic thickness measurements (UTMs) on mobile offshore units.

It follows the company’s addition of the Elios 3 UT drone to its unmanned autonomous vehicle (UAV) fleet for inspection services.

According to the company, the UTM payload allows the Elios 3 to deliver integrity inspection readings 10 times faster than conventional methods.

Interocean claims to be one of the first companies worldwide to receive ABS and DNV classifications for UTM drone inspections.
