ULSAN, South Korea -- ABB will supply a package of power systems, drilling drive, and propulsion systems for a new deepwater drilling rig to be built at the DSME shipyard in South Korea.
Brazilian ship owner Petroserv will operate the rig, which is due to be commissioned by early 2012, on behalf of Petrobras.
ABB’s $20-million order is its fourth for a drilling semisubmersible at DSME. It delivered the same scope of supply for the Petroserv 1 rig, which also operates for Petrobras off Brazil.
