HOUSTON – McDermott International has completed installation of the P-61 tension leg wellhead platform (TLWP) at the Papa Terra heavy oil development in Brazil’s Campos basin block BC-20.
The platform, moored in 3,871-ft (1,180-m) water depths, is South America’s first TLWP and thefirst use of dry tree floating technology offshore Brazil.
Operator Petrobras (62.5% interest) and Papa Terra partner Chevron (37.5%)began producing oil from the field to an FPSO in November, 2013.
Topsides engineering was conducted by McDermott in Houston. Keppel FELS, McDermott’s partner in the FloaTEC joint venture, built the topsides in its Singapore yard. Piles and tendons were fabricated at McDermott’s yards; Keppel FELS built the hull at its BrasFELS yard in Brazil, where the topsides and hull were integrated using the float over method.
McDermott used itsDB50 deepwater construction vessel to install the tendons.
