REYKJAVIK, Iceland –Teledyne Gaviahas sold two additional Gavia Offshore Surveyor AUVs to UTEC Survey Inc. The UTEC Gavia AUVs are fully equipped for geophysical surveys from near-shore environments to 1,000 m (3,281 ft) water depth.
The vehicles are fitted with swath bathymetry, side scan sonar, sub-bottom profiler modules, as well as a depth-rated camera with strobe lighting. The built-in camera allows for overlapping images that can be stitched together digitally to form a complete mosaic of the survey mission.
The Gavia AUV system is built from interchangeable/interlocking modules, allowing each system to carry the required payload for each mission. All system modules delivered to UTEC are interchangeable between vehicles.
UTEC purchased its first Gavia AUV in August 2011, and took delivery of a second in April 2012. The company has since purchased two more AUVs – the first delivered in October 2013 and the second due early in 2014.
