LONDON – Chariot Oil & Gas Ltd. has begun a 2D seismic survey in southern block 2714B offshore Namibia. The block was re-awarded to the company in June. The company has contracted Dolphin Geophysical Ltd. to carry out a 2,128-km (1,322-mi) 2D seismic acquisition campaign in water depths ranging from 150 m (492 ft) to 1,850 m (6,070 ft).
Using theArtemis Atlantic, Dolphin will acquire broadband 2D seismic data across the block to provide further details on the shallower petroleum system. By combining this with 1,500 km (933 mi) of legacy 2D data that the company is reprocessing, it hopes to determine specific regions of interest for designing a focused 3D program in the future.
The survey is anticipated to take 21 days to complete, and it will fulfill Chariot's initial four-year work commitment in the license.
Chariot is the operator with 85% working interest (NAMCOR and Quiver Oil hold a 10% and 5% carried interest, respectively).
