NORWICH, UK  Aquaterra Energy has developed a completions and workover system to support carbon capture and storage (CCS) projects.

This is designed for safe workovers and interventions in low-temperature and high-pressure CCS subsea sites, where there are concerns over gas leakage.

According to the company, the technology addresses the issues and complexities that can arise when working with stored and pressurized CO2 (i.e., sweet corrosion and ultra-low temperatures that standard low-alloy carbon steels cannot safely manage).

The solution is based on the company’s ISO13628-7 completion and workover riser system, which incorporates AQC-CW connectors to cut operational time and safeguard system integrity.

It plans to manufacture the new system in compliance with ISO13628-7, with deployments from a jackup, semisubmersible or lightweight intervention vessel.
