HOUSTON —Halliburton has released the RockJet range of reservoir-optimized shaped charges.
These were developed at the Advanced Perforating Flow Laboratory at the company’s Jet Research Center, using actual rock under downhole conditions.
They are also Halliburton’s first charges to be certified using the American Petroleum Institute’s new perforation witnessed test protocol.
The devices are said to enhance well productivity by optimizing reservoir connectivity through deeper formation penetration and a larger perforation tunnel diameter downhole.
During testing at downhole conditions, they achieved 22% higher penetration and an 83% increase in area open to flow, Halliburton added.
