ST PETERSBURG, RussiaGazprom Neft has begun full-scale COVID-19 tests for staff at the company’s oil production and refining facilities, which include the Prirazlomonye field offshore northern Russia.

Under a first-stage program the company plans to test 50% of its 80,000 personnel, to identify infected employees and those showing no external symptoms.

It will then isolate and treat those infected, with their entire contact groups subsequently also identified and tested.

In addition, the company has put in place measures to identify and differentiate incoming personnel at its businesses’ entry points, along with contactless shift and crew handovers, and other solutions.

Disinfection of contact surfaces is taking place throughout production facilities and office premises, with hand-sanitizer dispensers installed, viricidal filters fitted in ventilation systems, and anti-bacterial sterilization lamps placed in employee shared spaces.

Employees are undergoing daily remote temperature monitoring, and all company offices are equipped with first-aid points at which staff can present for coronavirus testing.

Shift rotations at remote fields have increased to 90 days. “Buffer zones” have been established for personnel on inter-shift breaks, with crews monitored under medical care prior to taking their flights to the fields.
