SAN ANTONIO – A new reservoir consulting company has introduced itself at the Society of Exploration Geophysicists annual meeting. SIGMA3 has acquired FusionGeo Inc. and Prism Seismic Inc. with the backing of Symphony Technology Group with the intention of building a software and service company that emphasizes independent reservoir analysis and development planning.

"SIGMA3 is creating a comprehensive, multi-disciplinary, and technology-led solutions provider that can be a strategic and unbiased partner to oil and gas companies in their quest to find new reserves and produce maximum output from their assets," said Jorge Machnizh, CEO of SIGMA3.

The company says it will enable “accurate, efficient and unparalleled reservoir understanding, resulting in improved drilling and production of reservoirs,” continued Machnizh. “Oil company clients will drill more prolific wells and achieve better sustainable production while developing unprecedented reservoir understanding, well positioning and field development planning, and production optimization across their portfolio.”

"Our vision for SIGMA3 is to create a solutions partner for the industry with excellence in technology and in multi-disciplinary projects that does not have an oil field services agenda coloring the discussions,” said J.T. Treadwell, managing director of STG.

Prism brings to the union its continuous fracture modeling program that integrates geophysics, geology, petrophysics, reservoir engineering, and advanced workflow to create a predictive model that aims to show the location, orientation, porosity, and permeability of natural fractures.

Fusion provides integrated geophysical, geological and reservoir engineering technologies and services. Fusion offers geohazards and geopressure prediction and reservoir geophysics and Earth imaging and modeling analysis, along with oil finding skills.
