MILAN/TRIESTE, Italy — Saipem and shipbuilding group Fincantieri have signed a memorandum of understanding to assess a cooperation in autonomous subsea vehicles.
Saipem has qualified and commercialized resident subsea drones for interventions and inspections in water depths of up to 3,000 m, for control and maintenance of subsea infrastructure for major energy companies.
Fincantieri also has underwater development programs for the civil and defense industries, and it has built 180 submarines since 1929.
