LEIDSCHENDAM, the Netherlands — Fugro has agreed to terms for acquiring the remaining shares in SEA-KIT International.
The two companies have been collaborating in the development of uncrewed surface vessels (USVs) for low-carbon emission maritime operations and research.
Milestones achieved to date, according to Fugro, include:
Delivery of the first commercial remotely operated USV and electric-powered (ROV) combi-service for offshore asset inspection and monitoring;
Approvals from authorities in Europe, Middle East and Australia to operate the jointly developed solution via a global network of remote operations centers;
Supplying five Fugro Blue Essence 12-m USVs to various regions; and
The world’s first fully remote inspection of offshore wind farm facilities using a USV and integrated ROV.
Further plans include the introduction of a Blue Eclipse 18-m USV for fast pipeline and deepwater equipment inspections as well as a zero-emissions, hydrogen-powered USV.
