OSLO, NorwayAqualisBraemar LOC Group (ABL Group) has an agreement to acquire the UK operations of ship design and marine consultancy company OSD-IMT from Damen Shipyards Group.

OSD-IMT is a specialist in newbuild, refit and conversion projects. It operates in the renewable energy and oil and gas markets, with knowledge of a wide range of vessels and technologies, including design and engineering for alternative fuels.

According to Jake Anderson, Group Managing Director for Engineering Services at ABL, the combination with ABL Group’s ship design, marine consultancy and marine operations should provide an end-to-end capability to support clients throughout their projects, from advisory through design to decommissioning.

Included in the deal are OSD-IMT’s offices in Bideford, southwest England, and Dundee, eastern Scotland.

OSD-IMT will work closely with ABL company Longitude Engineering, which provides marine operations engineering and marine design, conversion and upgrade of vessels.

In recent years OSD-IMT has designed zero-emission ships powered by battery, hydrogen and methanol power systems.

“Innovating ship design solutions is more important than ever when you consider the huge demand for construction vessels in emerging markets for offshore wind,” Anderson added.
