LONDON – InfraStrata has acquired two yards in Scotland owned by Burntisland Fabrication.

The sites at Methil on the east coast and Arnish on the Isle of Lewis off the west coast will in the future trade under the Harland & Wolff brand.

InfraStrata acquired Harland & Wolff’s Belfast and Appledore shipyards in 2019.

One of the company’s chief targets with the latest deal is wind farm fabrication, with the North Sea industry continuing to expand.

Methil and Arnish initially performed fabrication of platforms structures for the oil and gas industry, more recently serving energy companies developing UK wind farms. Methil, the larger of the two sites, will continue to focus on fabrication for the oil and gas, commercial and renewable markets.

Arnish - although providing rolled structures for the same sectors - is also strategically located to serve defense project and local maritime operators.
