People

Woodside has appointed Meg O’Neill as CEO and managing director.

Bill Dunnett, CEO of Ithaca Energy, passed away in September. Gilad Myerson, executive chairman, has been acting as interim CEO since April 2021 and will continue in this role for the immediate future.

ExxonMobil has appointed Kathryn Mikells as executive vice president and CFO. She succeeds Andrew Swiger.

Chevron Corp. has appointed Eimear Bonner as vice president, and Jeff Gustavson as president of Chevron New Energies. Joseph C. Geagea, executive vice president, Technology, Projects and Services, will retire on or about March 1, 2022.

TotalEnergies has appointed Nicolas Terraz as president, Exploration & Production, Arnaud Breuillac as senior advisor to the chairman and CEO, and Henri-Max Ndong-Nzue as senior vice president Africa for Exploration & Production.

PTTEP has appointed Montri Rawanchaikul as CEO.

bp has appointed Anja-Isabel Dotzenrath as executive vice president, gas and low carbon energy, and member of the company’s leadership team. She will succeed Dev Sanyal and join the company on March 1, 2022.

Africa Oil Corp. has appointed Craig Knight as vice president Production, and Amy Bowe as vice president ESG.

The Valaris board of directors has appointed Anton Dibowitz as interim president and CEO.

Dril-Quip Inc. has appointed Jeffrey J. Bird as president and CEO, effective Jan. 1, 2022. He will succeed Blake T. DeBerry.

TGS ASA CFO Fredrik Amundsen has resigned. The company has appointed Sven Børre Larsen as interim CFO.

Ken Gilmartin has joined Wood as COO.

Subsea 7 has appointed Mark Foley as CFO, effective Jan. 1, 2022.

Strohm has opened a new office in Rio de Janeiro and is establishing a center of excellence for engineering its thermoplastic composite pipe technology as part of its growth strategy in South America.

The American Petroleum Institute (API) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Guyana National Bureau of Standards (GNBS). The MOU expands the ability of American and Guyanese subject matter experts to collaborate. Ongoing joint meetings and workshops with GNBS will be used to adopt and promote API’s best-in-class standards, protocols, guidelines and recommended practices to enhance safety and environmental practices in Guyana. 

CHC Helicopter Group has completed the acquisition of Babcock International’s offshore oil and gas aviation business. The acquisition increases its offshore crew transportation capacity and expands its fleet by around 30 aircraft across the UK, Denmark, and Australia.

Crowley Maritime Corp. and Massachusetts Maritime Academy have partnered to create a training and workforce development program dedicated specifically to New England’s offshore wind energy industry.

The Port of Blyth has officially launched a £1-million ($1.4-million) wind turbine training facility. It features a modified, former operational wind turbine for practical training alongside a dedicated training center with modern classrooms and facilities. The turbine features a duplicate nacelle unit designed for safe training at height with the original nacelle located at ground level for technical training. 

The ModuResources Group has acquired Deepwater Subsea. The newly enlarged group will offer rig inspections, well engineering and intervention, well control and industry training, and real-time monitoring to support drilling and well life-cycle management.

AIS Survivex, a UK training provider, has secured a three-year contract extension with a major North Sea operator.

Hornbeck Offshore has awarded Speedcast a multi-year contract extension to provide IT communications equipment and connectivity services for 32 vessels across North and South America.

Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy has inaugurated its new offshore facility in Taichung, Taiwan. This is the company’s first offshore nacelle assembly facility outside of Europe. The piece of land developed in Taichung measures more than 322,917 sq ft (30,000 sq m), and is currently used for nacelle assembly, testing, warehousing, office buildings, and outdoor storage. Construction started in April 2020 and was completed in 3Q 2021.

Geoquip Marine has opened a new purpose-built testing laboratory in Bristol, UK.

Offshore Design Engineering Ltd. has opened a new subsidiary ODE GmbH, based in Hamburg, Germany.

KCA Deutag has launched a new business unit. Kenera will consolidate and leverage the skills, competencies, and experience of the existing group with the Bentec and RDS businesses to create scale and allow the development of additional technologies and services. It will have three dedicated segments: innovative services, technology and engineering, and manufacturing.

The LCI and Sumitomo Mitsui Finance and Leasing Co. Ltd. joint venture has acquired 12 helicopters: four Airbus Helicopters H145, three Leonardo AW139, and five Leonardo AW169 helicopters.

Kongsberg Digital has partnered with Data Gumbo to improve supply chain efficiencies by integrating and making blockchain smart contracts available inside Kognitwin.

eDrilling has formed a collaboration with Malaysia-based well integrity services provider OWS Oilfield Specialists. Their goal is to assist E&P companies optimize their well construction workflows and processes. Using eDrilling’s AI and machine-learning powered software they aim to help E&P companies plan, prepare for, perform, and optimize drilling.

Controlled flow excavation (CFE) technology developer SEAJET Systems has formed a manufacturing partnership with UK-based Soil Machine Dynamics. Under the arrangement, SMD will exclusively construct, test and commission CFE equipment at its complex in Wallsend, northeast England.

An immersive simulation suite has opened at the UK’s National Decommissioning Centre in Scotland, under a partnership between the University of Aberdeen and the Net Zero Technology Centre. The facility, jointly funded by the Centre, the Scottish and UK governments, can be used for subsea technology and operational simulations, data modeling, and visualization purposes.

Technip Energies and National Petroleum Construction Co. have signed an MOU to establish a joint venture to help advance the energy transition in the United Arab Emirates and other countries in the region. Among the targets are blue and green hydrogen and related decarbonization projects, carbon capture, and ammonia.

CGG has agreed to sell its GeoSoftware business to Topicus.com Inc. and Vela Software. The closing of the transaction remains subject to mutually agreed conditions. Topicus will own 60% and Vela 40% of the business.

TechnipFMC, Wilhelmsen, and NorSea have invested in Norwegian deep-sea mining company Loke Marine Minerals. Wilhelmsen and NorSea have together acquired a 18% stake. TechnipFMC has an 18% minority ownership stake.
