GODALMING, UK – Preparations for Hurricane Energy’s early production system for the Lancaster oil field west of Shetland have suffered a further setback.
During the buoy hook-up operation on Saturday, just prior to engaging the latches in the turret to lock the buoy into position, the pull-in rope failed.
No injuries resulted to personnel or damage to the FPSOAoka Mizu, and an ROV survey confirmed that the buoy had returned to its starting position and was not damaged.
TheAoka Mizu is now returning to the Cromarty Firth in northeast Scotland to await delivery of a new pull-in rope.
Theinitial attempt at buoy hook-up a fortnight earlier also had to be shelved when the rope used to pull in the buoy became snagged, again forcing the FPSO to return to the Cromarty Firth for remediation work on the pull-in system.
