GODALMING, UK – The FPSOAoka Mizu is in port in Algeciras, Spain, on its way to the Lancaster oil field west of Shetland.
According to Lancaster operator Hurricane Energy, the stopover had been planned for personnel changes and bunkering but will be extended for repairs to an auxiliary system associated with power generation.
Commissioning activities which were being conducted during transit will continue.
Drydocks World in Dubai recently completed refurbishment, life extension and upgrade works on the vessel for Bluewater Energy, also constructing a turret buoy weighing more than 1,000 t.
In addition, the fabricator installed more than 1,000 t of structural steel, 1,800 pipe spools (some made from duplex), and 55 km (34 mi) of cables.
On arrival at its final offshore location, the vessel will be moored in a water depth of around 150 m (492 ft). It is designed to process 30,000 b/d of oil and to store more than 600,000 bbl.
