PERTH, Australia – BHP says its deepwater Victoria-1 well has found gas offshore Trinidad and Tobago.
This was the first well of a Phase 2 exploration drilling campaign to further assess the commercial potential of the Magellan play, following the earlierLeClerc gas discovery.
On completion of Victoria-1 well, theDeepwater Invictus will drill the Bongos prospect offshore northern Trinidad and Tobago.
Elsewhere, BHP expects to spud the first appraisal well at thedeepwater Trion field in the Mexican sector during the December quarter.
It has also received fasttrack data from a 3D seismic survey over the Exmouth sub-basinoffshore Western Australia. Final processed data is due to be delivered during the September quarter.
