DOHA, Qatar – Qatar Petroleum (QP) has contracted McDermott International to work with Qatargas on detailed design of the platform jackets for the new offshore North Field expansion project.
By the end of this year, QP expects to issue an EPCI contract, with development drilling due to get under way in 2019.
The EPCI will cover six wellhead platforms, jackets and associated intra-field pipelines and main trunklines to the shore of Qatar, delivering an extra 4 bcf/d from the southern part of the North Field.
These facilities will be integrated with three new 7.8 MMt/yr LNG trains that will increase Qatar’s annual LNG output to 100 MMt.
Qatargas is working with Chiyoda on the onshore front-end engineering design.
