TOKYO – Commissioning has finished of the central processing facility (Ichthys Explorer) for INPEX’s Ichthys LNG project offshore northwest Australia.
This concludes the commissioning campaign for all the main offshore and onshore facilities.
Production of gas from the wellhead can begin following final safety verifications, and will then proceed with shipment of cargoes toward the end of September.
Ichthys LNG involves liquefying natural gas from the offshore Ichthys gas/condensate field at an onshore plant constructed in Darwin, designed to produce and ship around 8.9 MMt/yr of LNG and 1.65 MMt/yr of LPG, along with 100,000 b/d of condensate at peak.
The facilities should remain operational for four decades.
