PERTH, Australia – The Ichthys Explorer, the central processing facility for the INPEX-led Ichthys LNG project, has been safely moored in the Ichthys field, some 220 km (137 mi) offshore Western Australia.
Reported to be the world’s largest semisubmersible platform, theIchthys Explorer will remain in its current location for 40 years.
Bardex Corp. says that it supplied four moveable chain jacks and 28 underwater Barlatches to support the handling of 28 mooring lines. Bardex officials say that the mooring operation was safely completed well ahead of schedule with the assistance of its lifecycle services, and added that the use of the Bardex Clump Weight device played a key role in the mooring up operation.
