RIO DE JANEIRO – Petrobras has confirmed an ultra-deepwater light-oil find at well 3-BRSA-1296-SES in the Sergipe basin concession BM-SEAL-10.
The well found two light oil intervals with 24 m (79 ft) of total thickness. The well drilling reached a TD of 6,060 m (19,882 ft).
The well, in 2,988 m (9,803 ft) of water, is 94 km (58 mi) off Aracaju and 10 km (6.2 mi) from the discovery well.
This is the third extension well in the Moita Bonita area discovered in August 2012, and is part of the Segipe-Alagoas basin exploration project.
Petrobras holds 100% interest on the block and will proceed with the Discovery Evaluation Plan, according to Brazil’s Nacional Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels Agency (ANP).
