Piraeus-based Capital Offshore, which owns and operates more than 100 vessels, has ordered the 95-m-long, MMC 897 CD-design PSVs for operations offshore Brazil.
Each will feature an integrated electrical system, propulsion and energy controls.
Kongsberg Maritime’s Energy Storage System is designed to provide power for peak shaving, spinning reserve and power boost. The battery hybrid capability is said to allow vessels to run on a single engine with flexibility for engine selection, reducing fuel consumption and emissions.
The propulsion system for each vessel will comprise two US 255 azimuth thrusters, a single ULE PM 155 retractable azimuth thruster and two TT2200 tunnel thrusters, all with permanent magnet motors.
The DC hybrid electrical power plant will include generators, DC-switchboard, transformers and an Energy Storage System.
