The Zhizhen 60 and Zhicheng 100 are designed to address critical challenges in offshore wind maintenance, including operational efficiency and safety in adverse sea conditions.
Shanghai Electric Wind Power Group says that it has recently taken delivery of Asia’s first offshore wind power service and operation vessels, the Zhizhen 100 and Zhicheng 60.
These vessels, built by Zhenhua Heavy Industries, are said to be equipped with active wave compensation systems and hybrid diesel-electric propulsion. They are designed to address critical challenges in offshore wind maintenance, including operational efficiency and safety in adverse sea conditions.
Shanghai Electric officials say that the introduction of these vessels is a “game-changer” in offshore wind power, enabling longer maintenance windows and reduced downtime, which significantly enhances the viability and reliability of deep-sea wind farms.
The two delivered SOVs are both equipped with DP2 dynamic positioning systems; have a large cargo space with the capacity to store heavy-duty wind turbine spare parts; and have a self-sustaining capacity of over 30 days.
