Thus, PEP’s Marine Maintenance and Logistics Sub-Directorate spearheaded and is managing the Green Fleet initiative. Its contracted fleet operates in the oil fields off the coasts of Tamaulipas, Veracruz, Tabasco and Campeche. As a key part of this initiative, Fueltrax’s Electronic Fuel Management System (SAEC) is installed on 27 vessels, and the system is set to expand to 100 vessels by the first quarter of 2025.
As part of its Emissions Reduction and Energy Efficiency Plan, PEP has achieved tangible results using Fueltrax’s BestSpeed and BestEconomy optimization tools. From mid-2022 to year-end 2024, the initiative has saved more than 600,000 gallons of diesel—equivalent to preventing the emissions of more than 4.5 million kilograms of CO2. This environmental benefit is comparable to removing nearly 1,000 continuously operating vehicles from the roads.
The Fueltrax SAEC is a closed, tamper-proof system equipped with high-precision alarms and sensors, ensuring reliable data on fuel consumption. The system facilitates Pemex’s transition to low-carbon fuels, providing critical insights to meet its sustainability goals for 2025 and beyond.
PEP is reporting fleet performance and enhancing transparency with stakeholders due to the reliability of the data provided by the SAEC. Since the system’s first installation, no instances of fuel abuse have been recorded, underscoring its effectiveness in safeguarding resources.
