OSLO, NorwayGolar LNG says construction of the Sergipe power plant in Brazil is progressing as planned, along with the associated floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU) mooring, pipeline and transmission line infrastructure.

Golar Power, a 50/50 venture with Stonepeak Infrastructure Partners, is responsible for the development. Operations are due to start on Jan. 1, 2020.

Late in September the modified FSRUGolar Nanook was delivered from the shipyard in China.

Upon delivery, a $235.5-million China Construction Bank Financial Leasing sale and leaseback facility was drawn down and used to settle the final yard installment of $174.6 million.

Golar Power is investigating alternate projects that could employ the FSRU’s 65% spare capacity.
