OSLO -- Sevan Marine has selected Polarbase in Hammerfest as its shore base for the Goliat field.
Polarbase is located in Rypefjord in Hammerfest, and is the main hub for the oil and gas related activities in the Barents Sea region. Companies like StatoilHydro, Transocean, and Halliburton are already located here.
The company is currently in the process of concluding a comprehensive study for the use of Sevan's cylindrical FPSO on the Goliat field. An FPSO contract is expected to be awarded in 4Q 2008, and Sevan Marine is one of two contenders.
