Ophir goes to Golar for Fortuna FLNG vessel

Ophir Energy has signed a binding heads of terms for a chartering and operating services agreement with Golar LNG.

LONDON –Ophir Energy has signed a binding heads of terms for a chartering and operating services agreement with Golar LNG. This agreement establishes commercial terms for Golar to build, operate, and maintain the FLNG vessel and facilities at the Fortuna project in block R offshore Equatorial Guinea.

The vessel to be used will be Golar'sGimi FLNG vessel. Golar will operate the Gimi under a 20-year charter term. During this period it will be responsible for the subsea well control, receiving, liquefying, and offloading the gas to LNG vessels.

Ophir, as the operator of the upstream component, will lease the Gimi. Ophir will build thesubsea facilities, drill the development wells, and manage the performance of the reservoirs

First gas expected mid-2019.
