SINGAPORE — Jadestone Energy has issued a further update on its investigations at the Montara Venture FPSO offshore northwest Australia.
Production has been shut in following the identification of a small defect between ballast water tank 4S and oil cargo tank 5C.
Inspections in ballast water tank 4P have finished, with two minor repairs to follow in the next few days, after which the tank 4P should be restored to service.
Oil in tank 5C has been offloaded to a shuttle tanker and cleaning of the tank is progressing, with a short inspection program set to start later this week.
The oil offload has also permitted reentry into tank 4S, with inspections underway.
According to Jadestone, the defects do not present safety or structural risks, or the risk of a hydrocarbon leak to sea. It is engaging with Australia’s National Offshore Petroleum Safety and Environmental Management Authority on the results of its ongoing inspections and analysis at the Montara Venture.
At present the company does not expect production at the Montara Field to remain shut in for more than 60 days, subject to continuing inspections and implementation of preventative measures.
