Repsol extends offshore Mexico deal with Maersk drillship

Maersk Drilling has issued an update on its offshore drilling rig fleet.

COPENHAGEN, Denmark Maersk Drilling has issued an update on its offshore drilling rig fleet.

The company received $270 million worth of contracts and extensions in 4Q 2019. On Dec. 31, 2019, the contract backlog amounted to $2.1 billion.

POSCO International Corp. has awarded the drillship Maersk Viking a three-well contract offshore Myanmar with an estimated duration of 154 days. The contract, which started at the end of last year, has a firm value of about $33 million, including a mobilization fee.

Serica Energy UK has contracted the jackup Maersk Resilient to drill a subsea development well at the Columbus field in the UK central North Sea. Estimated duration is 70 days. The contract is expected to start in 4Q 2020 and has a firm value of about $8 million.

Aker BP awarded the jackup Maersk Integrator a contract extension in continuation of the rig’s current work scope with an estimated duration of 40 days. The extension is expected to begin in September 2020 and has a firm value of about $10.9 million, excluding a potential performance bonus.

CNOOC Petroleum Europe has exercised a one-well option on the jackup Mærsk Innovator. Expected commencement is 1Q 2020, in direct continuation of the rig’s current work scope.

Total E&P has awarded the drillship Maersk Voyager a three-well exploration contract in Angola and Namibia with an estimated duration of 240 days, plus two one-well options. The contract, which began last month, has a firm value of about $46.3 million, including a mobilization fee.

MOL Norge has awarded the jackup Maersk Interceptor a one-well exploration contract in Norway with an estimated duration of 60 days. The contract is expected to begin in August 2020 and has a firm value of about $16.5 million.

Shell subsidiary BG International Ltd. has awarded the semisubmersible Maersk Developer a two-well exploration contract offshore Trinidad and Tobago with an estimated duration of 171 days, plus five one-well options. The contract is expected to start in 1Q 2020 and has a firm value of about $39 million, including a mobilization fee.

BP has awarded the semisub Maersk Discoverer a three-well development contract offshore Trinidad and Tobago with an estimated duration of 322 days, plus a one-well option. The contract is expected to start in July 2020 and has a firm value of about $78 million, including a mobilization fee.

Noble Energy has awarded the drillship Maersk Valiant a one-well contract offshore Colombia with an estimated duration of 65 days. The contract is expected to commence in 4Q 2020 and has a firm value of about $18.2 million, including mobilization and demobilization fees.

In January 2020, Aker BP awarded the jackup Maersk Integrator an extension with a minimum contractual duration of 93 days in direct continuation of the rig’s current work scope. The extension has a firm value of about $25.5 million, excluding g potential performance bonus.

Also, Repsol has exercised a one-well option for the drillship Maersk Valiant with an estimated duration of 70 days. It is expected to start in August 2020, in direct continuation of the rig’s current work scope. Repsol will not make use of the second one-well option included in the original contract, Maersk said.

In addition, Maersk has notified Repsol Norge AS that the onshore modifications to the jackup Mærsk Inspirer are scheduled to be completed in late 2Q 2020. Then the rig will head to the Yme field in the Norwegian North Sea for hook-up and commissioning.
