Vattenfall awards DeepOcean offshore wind maintenance agreements, with conditions

April 3, 2025
Vattenfall has handed DeepOcean framework agreements covering subsea cable operations and maintenance services for various European offshore wind projects.

A first call-off has already been executed at one wind farm, using the subsea vessel Olympic Ares, converted to accommodate cable-lay equipment and a jet trencher.

Earlier this week, Vattenfall said it made FID on a conditional basis, pending the receipt of the required permit, for the Nordlicht 2 offshore wind farm, which will have a capacity of 630 MW. In addition, Vestas is set to provide 68 V236-15.0 MW wind turbines for Vattenfall’s Nordlicht 1 offshore wind project in the German North Sea.

And late last year, Vattenfall extended Interocean Marine Services’ UK North Sea offshore wind farm frame agreement by a further four years. Under the arrangement, Interocean will start deploying ROV inspection services to support Below Water Balance of Plant operations at the Thanet, Kentish Flats, and Kentish Flats Extension wind farms offshore southeast England.
