LONDON— bp Trinidad and Tobago (bpTT) has committed to the Cypre offshore gas project, the company’s third subsea development.
Facilities will include seven wells and subsea trees tied back to bpTT’s Juniper platform via two 14- km flexible flowlines. Drilling is due to commence in 2023 with first gas expected in 2025, according to bp's Sept. 24 press release.
The Cypre gas field is in the East Mayaro Block, 78 km offshore Trinidad’s southeast coast, in a water depth close to 80 m. At peak it should deliver 250 MMcf/d to 300 MMcf/d.
According to bpTT, the project is in line with its strategy of maximizing production from existing infrastructure and applying innovative solutions to speed up deliveries of gas without increasing operating emissions.
The subsea concept allows gas to be brought to market in a shorter time than a normally unmanned installation development, and by drawing on power from Juniper, avoids the need for installing additional power generation.
