S7000 j-lay structure towed to Black Sea port

The ocean-going tug Fairmount Expedition has helped transport the largest component of the 120-m (393-ft) tall j-lay tower for the Saipem 7000 crane vessel to Bulgaria.

ROTTERDAM, the Netherlands– The ocean-going tug Fairmount Expedition has helped transport the largest component of the 120-m (393-ft) tall j-lay tower for the Saipem 7000crane vessel to Bulgaria.

The tower component was loaded onto Saipem’s 125-m (410-ft) long, 30-m (98.4-ft) wide cargo bargeS42.

Fairmount Expedition towed the barge from Ravenna, eastern Italy, to a location in the Black Sea offshore Burgas at an average speed of 8 knots.

Subsequently, the tug provided assistance during off-loading of the 3,407-ton j-lay tower.
