OSLO, Norway—Havfram has secured a further $250 million in equity funding through a partnership between sponsor Sandbrook Capital and Canada’s PSP Investments.
This will go toward construction of a fleet of offshore wind vessels, capable of installing turbines of more than 300 m in tip height and foundations of up to 3,000 metric tons, in water depths of up to 70 m.
Work has started on the first vessel under a shipbuilding contract with CIMC-Raffles. The NG20000X vessel will feature a 3,250-t crane and battery hybrid drive train technology to reduce carbon emissions per MW installed by more than 70% compared to previous vessels.
