NEW YORK – New Fortress Energy (NFE) has taken a final investment decision on a Fast LNG modular liquefaction facility with a 1.4 MM-metric ton (1.54-MM ton) capacity.
The design is said to combine the latest advances in modular, mid-size liquefaction technology with jackup rigs or similar floating infrastructure to achieve a lower-cost and faster deployment schedule.
A permanently moored FSU will operate as an LNG storage facility alongside the floating liquefaction infrastructure, which according to the company, can be deployed anywhere with large volumes of stranded natural gas.
“Our innovative Fast LNG liquefiers should allow us to produce LNG between an expected $3-4 MMBtu for our growing portfolio of terminals around the world,” said NFE CEO and Chairman Wes Edens.
NFE has issued a limited notice to proceed with construction of the first project to Fluor, Chart Industries, and Baker Hughes, and aims to have the facilities operational within 20 months.
