WALVIS BAY, Namibia – Offshore/marine ship repair and maintenance company Namdock has resumed operations following the easing of COVID-19 restrictions in Namibia.

The company had put in place personal protection and sanitization measures to ensure a safe re-start of full-capacity operations when the time came.

As a further precautionary measure, the Namibian Ports Authority Namport has introduced a directive requiring foreign-flagged vessels to stay at anchorage for a minimum of two weeks before entering the main port or docking for repairs.

In some instances, this period may be reduced, taking into account the vessel’s time spent at sea after leaving the last port of call.

Namdock began docking vessels soon after operations re-opened last week, and anticipates more traffic at the shipyard, which includes three floating docks and on-site fabrication facilities, despite the pressures on the offshore sector due to the lower oil price.
