TotalEnergies and its partners have inaugurated the Yunlin wind farm offshore Taiwan, which is generating at its full capacity of 640 MW.
Skyborn Renewables, as part of the Yunneng Wind Power joint venture, led the development and construction. Following the commercial operations date, expected in June 2025, TotalEnergies will take on technical operations management, with Skyborn leading other management services.
Olivier Jouny, senior vice president of Renewables at TotalEnergies, said Yunlin would help the company fulfill its 2025 targets of 35 GW of gross renewable energy capacity and more than 50 TWh of net electricity production.
The wind farm is 15 km from the west coast of Taiwan and in water depths of up to 35 m. The project consists of 80 wind turbines, each with 8 MW capacity. The electricity is supplied directly to the Taiwanese grid and contracted entirely to Taiwan Power Co. via two 20-year power purchase agreements.
Yunlin will produce 2.4 TWh/year.
