Its work scope covers engineering, procurement, construction and installation (EPCI) of the high-voltage direct current (HVDC) offshore platform, with Siemens Energy responsible for the HV equipment in the substations and also the onshore station.
The Aker Solutions/Drydocks World joint venture will deliver the two HVDC platforms. Fabrication of the topsides is taking place at Drydocks World in Dubai, with Aker Solutions’ yard in Verdal, Norway, constructing the substructures.
Work on the Norfolk Vanguard West platform started at Drydocks World last April, while fabrication of the Norfolk Vanguard East platform should get underway this spring.
The completed platforms will both be towed to Aker Solutions’ Stord yard for final preparations, including transfer from a transportation vessel to a heavy-lift vessel. They are due to be delivered for installation offshore in 2026 and 2027.
