It represents the final approval needed for the project following the Department of the Interior’s September 2024 Record of Decision.
The 2-GW development is located 8.7 nautical miles (nm) offshore Maryland and about 9 nm from Sussex County, Delaware. It will supply power to users on the Delmarva Peninsula.
Plans call for the phased construction and operation of up to 114 wind turbine generators, up to four offshore substation platforms, one meteorological tower, and up to four offshore export cable corridors.
The MarWin and Momentum Wind phases currently have offshore renewable energy certificates from the state of Maryland.
In the same region, Worley will support the 1.510-MW Atlantic Shores Offshore Wind Cardiff Substation Expansion Project, in partnership with Riggs Distler and Jingoli Power.
Worley is responsible for the engineering scope, including expanding the 230-kV Cardiff substation, adding gas-insulated switchgear and building new electrical infrastructure to connect the development to the grid.
