Eole project in western France targets floating offshore wind turbine assembly
EXCLUSIVE CONTENT:
Saint-Nazaire Port on France’s west coast has contracted Egis and BRLi to manage the Eole port infrastructure project, supporting assembly of fixed and floating offshore wind turbines.
The planned structures will serve as a base for the installation of new wind farms offshore the Atlantic coast of France from 2030 onward. The goal is to facilitate assembly of next-generation floating wind turbines up to 350 m tall, with a capacity of about 25 MW.
Construction of the site is due to start in 2027, leading potentially to the first wind turbine installations in 2030.
As well as contributing to France's energy independence and Europe's efforts to support the transition to a carbon-neutral economy, the project will secure the long-term future of an industry that creates value and jobs in the region.
Egis and BRLi have multi-disciplinary experience in port infrastructure, maritime civil engineering, offshore wind energy, dredging and pyrotechnic decontamination, foundations, external works and electrification.
At Saint-Nazaire, they will manage the program from design studies through construction supervision.
In addition, Egis will provide support during the consultation phase, geotechnical studies, planning and coordination, and management and development of BIM processes.
