During 2023-24, the DEA held consultations and public meetings on the draft plan and its associated environmental report. The bid deadline for the two projects is April 1, 2025. The winner of the individual tender will have to perform an environmental impact assessment of the proposed offshore wind development.
In parallel, Energinet is conducting an environmental assessment related to the two projects’ onshore facilities.
The offshore wind turbines in the Kattegat will be placed at least 27 km from Anholt, 15 km from Djursland and 25 km from the coast in Odsherred Municipality, northwest Zealand. This wind farm should be fully operational by the end of 2030.
As for Kriegers Flak II (North), the wind turbines must be positioned at least 15 km from Rødvig, southeast Zealand, and 15 km from Møn, with the turbines in Kriegers Flak II (South) also at least 15 km from Møn. This development also should be fully operational by year-end 2030.
In June of this year, consultancy WSP prepared a report on bat movements around the Kriegers Flak wind farm for the DEA. The findings supported how the DEA managed the Habitats Directive's protection of bats in connection with permits for offshore wind turbines.
The DEA added that the industry has shown interest in electricity production permits for existing offshore wind farms, with six applications received so far.
Following implementation of an executive order on July 1, the DEA has assembled guidelines that cover the application and permitting process for repowering and extending an electricity production permit related to existing electricity production facilities at sea.
