SEAJET CFE system supports power cable burial at UK offshore wind site

OEG Renewables companies 23 Degrees Renewables and SEAJET Systems have completed a turnkey cable burial campaign for Nexans at an offshore wind farm site in UK waters.
SEAJET deployed its all-electric controlled flow excavation (E-CFE) technology, HYDROMOLE, for the program, which included trenching and burial of shallow-water export cables.
HYDROMOLE’s control system allows performance to be monitored and optimized in real time, helping to maximize project uptime. Other major benefits are said to be reduced CO2 emissions, eliminated risk of high-pressure, high-volume oil spills into the marine environment, as well as reduced noise.
The HYDROMOLE was deployed from an ultra-shallow draft multi-cat vessel for completion of the work scope. The vessel’s compact deck space was able to accommodate the SEAJET equipment spread.
With regard to the operational conditions, the main issues were the tight weather windows for performing the work and strong fluctuations in tidal ranges.
