Global Maritime assisting North Sea Salamander marine study

July 12, 2024
The project is designed to improve understanding of fish migration patterns around the floating wind development.

Global Maritime will support the PREDICT 2.0 project. This is a collaboration between the partners in the proposed Salamander floating offshore wind farm in the UK North Sea—Ørsted, Simply Blue Group and Subsea7, the University of the Highlands and Islands’ (UHI) Environmental Research Institute, and the University of Aberdeen.

The project is designed to improve understanding of fish migration patterns around the development.

Salamander’s joint venture partners and UHI are deploying environmental monitoring equipment alongside a metocean survey; an echosounder will operate on the seafloor close to a FLiDAR buoy.

Global Maritime will provide design services and advice concerning the deployment and recovery equipment, riser and marker buoys for the PREDICT Echosounder frame, and development of the deployment and recovery procedure for the echosounder.
