CORK, Ireland — Salamander, the joint venture between Ørsted, Simply Blue Group and Subsea7, has submitted an offshore consent application.
Their proposed 100-MW floating offshore wind farm would be constructed 35 km from the coast of Peterhead, eastern Scotland, in the UK central North Sea.
Salamander was a successful bidder in Crown Estate Scotland’s Innovation and Targeted Oil and Gas (INTOG) leasing round. Subject to approval by Scotland’s government, the consent application will grant permission for offshore elements of the project.
The INTOG round awarded exclusivity agreements to two types of projects: small-scale innovation projects of less than 100 MW, as in Salamander’s case, and larger projects designed to power North Sea oil and gas infrastructure.
