LONDON — Global offshore wind health and safety organization G+ has entered a partnership with ABEEólica, the Brazilian wind energy trade association.
G+, formed in partnership with the London-based Energy Institute, includes operators bp, Corio Generation, EDF Renewables, Equinor, Iberdrola, Ocean Winds, Ørsted, RWE, Siemens Gamesa, SSE Renewables, TotalEnergies and Vattenfall, and various international associate members.
ABEEólica (Associação Brasileira de Energia Eólica e Novas tecnologias), formed in 2002, covers the country’s entire supply chain in the offshore wind sector.
The two organizations will look to co-develop a health and safety framework for the Brazilian wind sector via shared access to global knowledge, industry guidance and lessons learned.
Elbia Gannoum, CEO of ABEEólica, said, "We are eagerly awaiting the start of offshore wind activities in Brazil and aim to begin with responsibility, transparency, safety and insights from global experiences, which will be of great value. The potential for offshore wind in Brazil is enormous, and we want to explore it with the utmost care for the health and safety of all involved in these projects.”
G+ addresses health and safety issues in the industry through four main work programs: incident data reporting, good practice guidelines, safe by design, and learning from incidents.
