OLDENBURG — Omexom Renewable Energies Offshore's business unit Offshore Projects has been awarded a contract by Luxcara, a sustainable energy infrastructure asset manager, for the technical planning and coordination of the WATERKANT offshore wind farm in the North Sea.
The wind farm will be built about 90 km off the island of Borkum and will provide a total capacity of 270+ MW. Operations are scheduled to begin in 2028.
Over the course of the coming years, Omexom Offshore will support and coordinate the project planning and development as a technical consultant. The initial focus will lie on the comprehensive regulatory approval steps necessary for the construction of the wind farm as well as tenders for the main trades.
Omexom said a key milestone for the team will be obtaining planning permission for the WATERKANT project and awarding the contracts for all the main trades.
