Offshore staff
BEILEN, the Netherlands — Cape Holland is supporting offshore installations for the Hai Long wind farm offshore western Taiwan in collaboration with CDWE, a joint venture between DEME Offshore and CSBC Corp.
The company will supply its CAPE Vibro Lifting Tools for installation of the pin piles for the jacket foundations. Vibro Lifting Technology (VLT) enables upending and lifting, including handling of the pre-piling template and pile driving to the required depth.
According to Cape, the tool was chosen due to its ability to mitigate the risk of pile run and because it does not require a separate upending tool. Initially a CAPE VLT-640 Single version will be used, and later it will be converted to a Tandem version for installation of the offshore substation foundation piles.
CDWE's Green Jade, the first offshore heavy lift DP3 installation vessel built in Taiwan, will host operations at the project in the Taiwan Strait.
Hai Long is a 1,044-MW project covering the Site 18 and Site 19 licenses, and it comprises 73 turbines on three-legged jacket foundations. It is under development in three stages, Hai Long 2A, Hai Long 2B and Hai Long 3, which should be completed in 2025.
Water depths range from 41-56 m, with installation of the jacket piles and offshore substation piles scheduled to start this March.
