STAVANGER, Norway — Fred. Olsen Seawind Ltd. and Vattenfall have asked Global Maritime to provide engineering and consultancy services to support their floating offshore wind development Muir Mhòr 65 km east of Peterhead in the UK North Sea.
The two companies were jointly awarded seabed rights in the January 2022 ScotWind auction. They are developing Muir Mhòr offshore wind farm on an accelerated basis to support the UK government’s target of generating 5 GW from floating offshore wind by 2030.
Deepwater conditions at the site are said to be well suited to floating turbine technology.
Global Maritime will provide services related to the various nearby ports and logistics options under investigation for the project’s execution phase of the project. Its scope will include wet storage, integration and installation, mooring and anchoring concepts, mooring & IAC optimization, floater assembly and wind turbine generator marshalling/integration processes.
The company will manage the project from its Glasgow office, with involvement of its specialists in geosciences, marine operations, and engineering and software.
